When the first Covid-19 case was announced in Kenya, Apostle Peris didn't wait — she acted. Within days she had redirected her personal savings, organised fumigation of public spaces, and was distributing supplies freely to her community. Nation Africa called it "one woman's resolve."
God called us to save — not just to witness suffering. That calling became Okoa.
Okoa Humanitarian C.B.O is a charitable, non-political, safety-oriented, and non-profit making organisation. The concept was born during the Covid-19 pandemic — when founder Peris Wakarura Ngugi answered what she believed was a divine calling to serve and save society. Okoa means Save in Swahili — and saving lives is what we do every day.
We focus specifically on orphaned and vulnerable youth aged 17–35 — a group that falls between the cracks of most support systems. They face lack of guidance, limited opportunities, and unmet basic needs. We are here to change that.
Every program we run is powered entirely by the generosity of donors like you.
Many vulnerable youth aged 17–35 have never had a consistent adult in their corner. We provide mentors, life-skills training, and spiritual guidance to help them find their path.
We provide food, clothing, and essential supplies to orphaned and vulnerable young people who lack the basics — ensuring no one goes without while they rebuild their lives.
We connect youth to education, skills training, and economic opportunities — equipping them to build stable, independent futures and become the people God intended them to be.
